Japan's electronics giant Hitachi has announced that for the first time this fiscal year, it plans to hire more mid-career employees compared to new graduates.
Hitachi aims to recruit 930 individuals with work experience, a figure that is more than three times that of five years ago. Meanwhile, the quota for hiring new graduates stands at 815.
Hitachi is working towards changing Japan's corporate practices that primarily hire fresh graduates from universities and provide them with training from the start.
Hitachi's official Kenichiro Okubo states, "The fast pace of technological innovation means gaining real benefits by quickly acquiring employees with relevant skills and experience. We need to ensure that these two approaches can align well."
Previously, electronics companies primarily focused on manufacturing home appliances and other consumer products, but now they are rapidly diversifying into infrastructure and energy-related businesses as well. Advances in technology, such as AI, mean they require employees with specific knowledge and experience.
Hitachi currently hopes to continue this hiring policy.

Report an incorrect translation

Gold prices in Japan have reached a new record for safe-haven assets due to the return of United Nations sanctions against Iran, increasing concerns over geopolitical risks.
Tanaka Precious Metal Technologies stated that retail gold prices peaked on Monday, September 29, surpassing 20,000 yen per gram for the first time, equivalent to nearly 4,350 baht.
In the Osaka exchange market, gold futures prices for delivery in August next year broke the intraday record, reaching over 18,400 yen per gram, or about 4,000 baht at one point. This price broke the previous record set on Friday, the 26th.
Speculation that the U.S. Federal Reserve may cut interest rates again has also fueled gold purchases.

The Power of Books, The Power to Live
A collaborative project with the Shanti Volunteer Association
"The Power of Books, The Power to Live"
Let’s look at the world starting from the familiar.
Based on this concept, we collaborated with two individuals from Myanmar living in Nishiokoppe Village to create translated picture books to be sent to Myanmar.
What kind of country is Myanmar?
What is the current situation there?
First, we took some time to learn about Myanmar.
After that, we read the picture book in both Japanese and Burmese.
After enjoying the differences in pronunciation between Burmese and Japanese,
we finally moved on to creating the translated picture book.
While looking at a chart comparing the Burmese alphabet,
we cut out and pasted Burmese translated text stickers on every page repeatedly.
In the end, I learned how to write my name in Burmese.
Having two people who can speak Burmese allowed us to ask questions when we got confused about which pages to put stickers on and to learn things about the order of writing characters that we couldn’t have known just by reading materials.
Thanks to them, I felt I could relate more closely to the Burmese language.
The translated picture book we created that day will reach Myanmar around next summer.
I wonder what Myanmar will be like at that time,
and what I will be doing then,
as I entrusted the picture book to the Shanti Volunteer Association.
