❚ What is the Mitake-ryu Kagura Festival?
The "Mitake Kagura" that has been passed down in "Kiyokawa" is said to have originated with the establishment of Mitake Shrine in the first year of Hōtoku (1449).
This kagura, which has been inherited for a long time, has spread to Ōno, Naoiri, and the southern part of the prefecture, and as far as the Aso region. It was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset by the government in 2007.
The "kagura," a regional culture born from the land of "Kiyokawa," is being re-examined, and the "Mitake-ryu Kagura Festival" has been held since 1988 to promote regional revitalization through kagura.
It is a crystallization of regional culture where traditional cultures from various regions gather, and the splendid performance of the "Kiyokawa Kodomo Kagura Preservation Society" captivates many kagura fans alongside the magnificent and splendid dances of the Mitake Kagura.
