Japan's electronics giant Hitachi has announced that for the first time this fiscal year, it plans to hire more mid-career employees compared to new graduates. Hitachi aims to recruit 930 individuals with work experience, a figure that is more than three times that of five years ago. Meanwhile, the quota for hiring new graduates stands at 815. Hitachi is working towards changing Japan's corporate practices that primarily hire fresh graduates from universities and provide them with training from the start. Hitachi's official Kenichiro Okubo states, "The fast pace of technological innovation means gaining real benefits by quickly acquiring employees with relevant skills and experience. We need to ensure that these two approaches can align well." Previously, electronics companies primarily focused on manufacturing home appliances and other consumer products, but now they are rapidly diversifying into infrastructure and energy-related businesses as well. Advances in technology, such as AI, mean they require employees with specific knowledge and experience. Hitachi currently hopes to continue this hiring policy.
