大瀬まつりは、駿河湾の漁民の信仰を一身に集める大瀬神社の例祭です。長襦袢をまとい顔を白塗りにした青年達が乗った踊り船が大瀬神社へ参拝に出港し、女装した青年達が「勇み踊り」を「チャンチャラオカシ」のお囃子に合わせて賑やかに踊るところから「天下の奇祭」とも称されています。

新潟県十日町市松之山温泉の婿投げ墨付け祭りでの新婚夫婦婿が投げられた後、賽の神（さいのかみ）と呼ばれる注連縄や正月飾り等を集めた塔を燃やし（いわゆる左義長・とんど焼きの類）、無病息災を祈願して残った墨を「おめでとう」と言いながら参加者一同でお互いの顔に塗りあう。
