The name "Takushoku Kinokotan" is a coined term made from "Takutetsu" (the railway) and "Kinoko" (mushroom) plus "Kotan," which means village in the Ainu language. It embodies the desire to bring vitality back to this once-thriving land. Visitors can enjoy a shiitake mushroom picking experience using carefully cultivated logs made from timber harvested in Hokkaido. The direct sales area offers the sale of log-grown shiitake mushrooms, goods related to the Hokkaido Takushoku Railway and bus, as well as mushroom-themed merchandise. There is also a corner displaying historical materials related to the Hokkaido Takushoku Railway 😍 The red roof is a landmark!!
