❚ What is the Mitake Style Kagura Festival?
The "Mitake Kagura" passed down in "Kiyokawa" is said to have originated with the establishment of Mitake Shrine in the first year of Hōtoku (1449).
It has been inherited for a long time, and this style of kagura has spread to the Ōno, Naoiri, and southern prefectures, reaching as far as the Aso region. In 2007, it was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset by the government.
The "kagura" as a regional culture born from the land of "Kiyokawa" is being re-evaluated, and the "Mitake Style Kagura Festival" has been held since 1988 to promote regional revitalization through kagura.
It is a crystallization of regional culture where traditional cultures from each area gather, and the splendid dance of the "Kiyokawa Children's Kagura Preservation Society" captivates many kagura fans along with the majestic and splendid performance centered on "Mitake Kagura".
