MtNasu (MtChausudake) ranks among the best places for autumn color in the Kanto region. The mountain sits in Nikko National Park in Tochigi Prefecture. What makes the autumn leaves here special is that you can enjoy spectacular color while hiking. The dramatic silhouette of MtNasu (MtChausudake) paired with blazing red foliage, as shown in the video, will make you want to see it in person. First, enjoy the beautiful 4K footage capturing the autumn colors. What kind of mountain is MtNasu (MtChausudake)? When is the best time to see fall color? MtNasu is the main peak of the Nasu Mountain Range, a volcanic group centered on the Nasu Goyo peaks, and is also known as MtChausudake. It is one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan. Located in the northwest of Nasumachi in Nasu District, Tochigi Prefecture, MtChausudake rises to 1,915 meters. Together with Mt. Asahi to the north, it offers autumn color from species such as Japanese maple and Enkianthus. As an active volcano, you can still smell sulfur in the air. The best foliage season usually runs from late September to early October. A ropeway makes the mountain accessible to a wide range of hikers, from beginners to experienced climbers, and thousands visit every year. Highlights of MtNasu (MtChausudake) autumn color — top scenic spots The star attraction is the contrast between the active volcanic peak of MtChausudake and the fiery red of the surrounding leaves. The tree-lined slopes up to the summit make for an unforgettable sight. Long ago, a large peach floated down the upper reaches of a river in Okayama. An elderly couple took it home and split it open, and inside they found a healthy baby boy. They named him Momotaro, meaning 'Peach Boy.' He grew quickly, and one day he decided to go to Onigashima to defeat the oni (demons) who were terrorizing the village. The old couple gave him kibidango (millet dumplings), and along the way he shared them with a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, who joined him. The four of them joined forces and fought a fierce battle with the oni on Onigashima, finally forcing the leader to surrender. The oni returned the treasures they had stolen, and Momotaro and his companions returned to the village bearing the spoils as proof of their victory. The villagers rejoiced, and Momotaro lived happily with the elderly couple. This classic Japanese folktale teaches the importance of courage, justice, and working together with friends.

Gion Shrine Autumn Festival — Okunchi Festival On Thursday, October 9th, the Gion Shrine autumn festival, the Okunchi Festival, was held in Kuraoka.⛩ It took place under warm, sunny skies.🌞 Traditional performances were offered, including kagura (a sacred Shinto dance), the usu-daiko drum dance (usu-daiko, a traditional mortar-drum dance), and yamabushi dialogues (exchanges by mountain ascetics).✨ The usu-daiko dance welcomed impromptu participants, and many people joined in.😊 Each time local residents and visitors from other prefectures form a circle and perform the same dance together, I am moved to tears.😭 This year also saw the revival of gankake kagura (a wish-offering kagura).👹 The powerful yet solemn dance, which preserves the original custom called the Festival of Fulfilled Wishes, stirred our hearts.💖 Having kagura performed as a way to make a wish is such a beautiful tradition.✨ Everyone, please come to Gokase's autumn festival next year! Walk-ins and impromptu participants are very welcome.🙌

The turtle was slowly walking along the road. He was on his way home to his house by the pond. At that moment, the rabbit hopped over and said, "Turtle, you're really slow. At this rate, the sun will set before you get home." The turtle replied angrily, "I can run very fast when I need to." The rabbit laughed and said, "When would that be?" After thinking for a moment, the rabbit said, "Alright, let's have a race to the top of that hill tomorrow morning. Whoever gets there first wins." "Understood. Let's race." The turtle replied. The next morning, the turtle and the rabbit lined up, ready to race to the top of the hill. The rabbit hopped over the river, passed through the forest, and ran across the field. When he reached the slope leading up the hill, he looked back but couldn't see the turtle at all. "Hmph, what did I tell you? It's foolish for a turtle to race a rabbit. Well, I'll take a break here."

Video Introduction: Experience the Charm of Ukimido in 4K Video The YouTube video "Ukimido Mangetsuji Temple – Shiga – Mangetsuji Temple Ukimido – 4K Ultra HD" offers a high-definition view of the beautiful Ukimido in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Scenes include walking along the lakeside path to the bridge leading to the temple, panoramic views of Lake Biwa from inside the hall, and the ethereal scenery illuminated by the setting sun. It provides an immersive experience, making you feel as if you're actually there. What is Ukimido? Ukimido, officially known as Kaimon-san Mangetsuji Temple, is a wooden Buddhist hall built to extend into Lake Biwa. Crossing the bridge from the lakeside path, it appears to float on the water, inviting visitors into an extraordinary world. The temple's origins trace back to the Heian period, with the current structure rebuilt in 1937 and extensively renovated in 1982. The warmth of the wood, the sound of the lake's surface stirred by the wind, and the tranquility combine to create a place that calms the mind. In spring, cherry blossoms, and in autumn, colorful leaves adorn the area, especially in the evening when breathtaking views unfold, making it a popular spot for photographers and tourists. Images of Ukimido at Kaimon-san Mangetsuji Temple in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture Photo: Ukimido at Kaimon-san Mangetsuji Temple in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture The Legend of Genshin and Ukimido A legend associated with Ukimido involves Genshin, a high priest from the Heian period. Genshin, known for spreading Jodo Buddhism in Japan and authoring "Ojo Yoshu," which advocates the Nembutsu to Amida Buddha, was gazing at Lake Biwa from Hieizan Yokokawa when he saw a golden light on the lake. Curious, he approached the lakeshore and scooped the water with a fishing net, finding a small statue of Amida Buddha glowing golden. Interpreting this as a manifestation of Amida Buddha's vow, Genshin enshrined the statue as the main deity and carved a thousand Amida Buddha statues to place inside the hall. This legend is considered the origin of the current Ukimido, which continues to gather the faith and respect of local people to this day. *Note: This story is passed down as a legend and has not been confirmed as a historical fact. Nagano Prefecture・Shirakoma Pond from Takamiishi Image Photo: Nagano Prefecture・Shirakoma Pond from Takamiishi Among the numerous famous autumn leaves spots in Nagano Prefecture, Shirakoma Pond is particularly known for its mystical beauty and is also called the sky lake. Shirakoma Pond is located on the border of Komimachi and Sakuhomachi in Minamisaku-gun, eastern Nagano Prefecture. Situated at an elevation of 2,115 meters on Yachiho Kogen, Shirakoma Pond is the largest natural lake at the highest altitude in Japan. Additionally, the lake's water transparency is exceptionally high at 5.8 meters. Despite being in a highland area, Shirakoma Pond is easily accessible. With well-maintained walking paths, it has become a popular tourist spot that is also photogenic. When is the Best Time to See the Autumn Leaves at Shirakoma Pond? Best Season and Photography Spots Nagano Prefecture・Shirakoma Pond Autumn Leaves Images Photo: Nagano Prefecture・Shirakoma Pond Autumn Leaves Around Shirakoma Pond, there is a primeval forest counted among Japan's three major primeval forests, where during the autumn leaves season, the native trees like Doudan Tsutsuji, Dake Kanba, and various maples turn red and yellow. Every year, many tourists visit to witness the autumn foliage. If you're planning to enjoy autumn foliage, it's essential to check the color change status to avoid missing the best season. When does the autumn foliage at Shirakoma Pond reach its peak? In the Chubu region's high-altitude areas, the best time to see autumn leaves begins as early as late September, and typically starts around early October. Departing from Shirakoma Pond Parking, proceed along the walking path while enjoying the moss-covered forest, selected by the Japanese Bryological Society as "Japan's Precious Moss Forest," and at a fork in the path, head towards Takamiishi Hut. Along the gentle ascent, you can enjoy beautiful scenery covered with moss. Climb behind Takamiishi Hut to reach Takamiishi. From Takamiishi, you can overlook the magnificent views of the Northern Alps, Central Alps, and Shirakoma Pond. After enjoying the scenery, descend from Takamiishi towards Shirakoma Pond. Long ago, a large peach floated down the river from upstream in Okayama. An elderly couple found it and, upon opening it, discovered a lively baby boy inside. They named him Momotaro, meaning "Peach Boy." As Momotaro grew, he decided to journey to Onigashima to defeat the ogres terrorizing the village. The old woman made millet dumplings for him, and along the way, he befriended a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant by sharing the dumplings. Together, they confronted the ogres in a fierce battle, eventually forcing their leader to surrender. The ogres returned the stolen treasures, and Momotaro and his companions returned to the village as heroes. The villagers rejoiced, and Momotaro lived happily with the elderly couple. This tale is a classic Japanese folktale that conveys the importance of courage, justice, and teamwork.
