Hachiman-bori Canal, a Tourist Attraction in Omihachiman Photo:Omihachiman, Shiga Omihachiman is one of the most famous tourist spots in Japan's Kansai region and Shiga Prefecture, and one of the most popular attractions in Omihachiman is the famous Hachiman-bori Canal. The Hachiman-bori Canal dates back to Japan's Warring States Period (1467-1615 AD) and the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1573-1598 AD), when Toyotomi Hideyoshi's nephew, Toyotomi Hidetsugu, built a castle and established a town on Mt. Hachiman. The Hachiman-bori Canal is connected to Lake Biwa, and a "rakuichi-rakuza" (free markets and open guilds) system was established to accommodate the merchants who passed through the canal. The castle town was the birthplace of the Omi merchants and played a role in the development of the town as a result of their efforts to make it prosperous. Hachiman-bori Canal and Beautiful Cherry Blossoms: A Spectacular Sightseeing Location! Photo:The Hachiman-bori Canal, spring, Shiga Omihachiman is famous as a village of water, selected as one of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa. One of the most popular sightseeing tours in Omihachiman is the Hachiman-bori Canal Tour. The Hachiman-bori Canal Tour is a popular way to view the cherry blossoms while enjoying a leisurely ride on a traditional Japanese houseboat. Visitors can also enjoy the seasonal scenery of willows in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and gentle snow in winter, while viewing merchants' mansions reminiscent of days past. In addition to touring around Hachiman-bori Canal, we also recommend taking a leisurely stroll through the historical streets. Omihachiman - A Town of Historic Merchant Houses and Historical Dramas Photo:The townscape of Omihachiman Omihachiman is not only famous as a sightseeing spot, but it's also known as one of Japan's most famous locations for filming historical dramas. The merchants' houses and elegant townscape, which still retain their historical atmosphere, are the perfect locations for historical dramas. In particular, it became famous as a location for the Rurouni Kenshin movie, and the Hachiman-bori Canal has become popular not only among fans, but also among many others as a place for pilgrimages. Sightseeing and Recommendations Around Hachiman-bori Canal Photo:The Kawara Museum In the vicinity of the Hachiman-bori Canal, there's the Kawara Museum, a unique exhibition hall in Japan specializing in roof tiles, and the Honganji Hachiman Betsuin Temple (本願寺八幡別院), the largest temple in the city, where visitors can experience the history of Omihachiman. There are also cafes and restaurants where you can stop by during a stroll and enjoy lunch. For example, there's a restaurant called "Tiffany" where you can enjoy famous Omi Beef dishes, or "Kihei" where you can sample the local cuisine of Omihachiman. When it comes to cafes in Omihachiman, Taneya/Club Harie is a place you have to check out. Its most popular items are Japanese sweets and baumkuchen. When visiting the Hachiman-bori Canal area for sightseeing, we recommend that you pick out the spots you want to visit in advance, and if you're coming by car, look up the location of parking lots in advance to ensure a smooth visit. Summary of Beautiful Cherry Blossoms at Hachiman-bori Canal Omihachiman is so beautiful that it has been selected as one of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa, delighting the eyes of many people. Beautiful Night Views of Tokyo and Yokohama! This video, titled "Japan Night Aerials in 8K," was produced by Armadas. This video was made using aerial footage of Tokyo Tower, Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Sky Tree, and other beautiful views of the nightscapes of Tokyo and Yokohama. The aerial views of the Tokyo and Yokohama nightscapes from a helicopter are absolutely stunning. Highlights of Tokyo and Yokohama's Nightscapes The centers of Japan, including places like Shinjuku and Yokohama, are usually overcrowded with people and things, but what you see in this video are simply beautiful views of each city without all of the crowds. The beauty of Japan lies not only in the mountains and rivers, but also in the urban landscapes. Especially in Tokyo and Yokohama, there are many people, which leads to more buildings being built and more people gathering and lighting up the area. These dazzling lights and buildings create wonderful nightscapes. Nowadays, Tokyo's population has surpassed 9 million, and the crowds in the city are becoming more and more stressful by the day. Yokohama is just as overpopulated as Tokyo, but the night view of Tokyo and Yokohama shows no sign of such internal deterioration. You can even feel the frustration and stress of daily life melting into the nighttime scenery of Tokyo and Yokohama, which can only be experienced through aerial photography. One of the ways to enjoy this film is to compare Yokohama and Tokyo. This too is only possible thanks to aerial photography... Try to compare the intensity of the light and the number of buildings. You're sure to find something about Tokyo and Yokohama that you never noticed before. Summary of the Beautiful Aerial Footage of Tokyo and Yokohama This video gives beautiful aerial views of Tokyo and Yokohama. We highly recommend checking it out. You'll see another side of Tokyo and Yokohama that you won't find walking through the city during the day. -

Introducing Kongobuji Temple on the Mystical Koyasan This video, titled "Kongobuji Temple - Wakayama - 金剛峯寺 - 4K Ultra HD," was created by "TokyoStreetView - Japan The Beautiful." The video shows the famous spiritual area, Kongobuji Temple. During the Heian period (794-1185), the monk Kobo Daishi (Kukai) founded a religious city on Koyasan (Mt. Koya) in Wakayama Prefecture. Kongobuji Temple, located in the city, is the head temple of the Shingon Buddhism sect, and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. You can learn more about the temple through this video. The History of Kongobuji Temple Photo:Koyasan Kongobuji Temple From 0:15 in the video, you can see a stunning view of the temple bathed in autumn foliage. A view like this can hardly be done justice even in 4K resolution. The history of Kongobuji Temple goes all the way back to the year 835 during the Heian period, when the monk Kukai first entered Koyasan. After working hard to study Buddhism and receiving the posthumous name of "Kobo Daishi," he founded Kongobuji Temple on the mountain. Gradually, the area developed into a religious city. Visiting the temple now, you can view the Main Hall, as well as the main shrine housing the principal deity. Banryu Garden (蟠龍庭, banryu-tei), shown from 2:45 in the video, was created using beautifully shaped granite from the Shikoku region of Japan. This is one of the largest rock gardens in Japan. In addition, you can view the fusama paintings of the Nihonga painter Hiroshi Senju, and even get a shuin stamp in their likeness. Other Attractions on Koyasan Photo:Kongobuji Temple's Kondo Hall, Wakayama Prefecture Besides Kongobuji Temple, there are many other Buddhist temples and pagodas, such as the Konpon Daito Pagoda (根本大塔). Incidentally, the name "Head Temple Kongobuji Temple" refers to the entirety of Koyasan. The Main Hall of Mount Koya is known as "Kondo Hall" (金堂, lit. Golden Hall). There are also smaller temples scattered around the mountain, known as "Tachu" (塔頭). If you stay overnight in the temple lodgings, you'll be able to try some Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, known as shojin ryori (精進料理), experience morning prayer rituals, and take your time visiting the numerous Buddhist statues on the mountain. The admission fee for Kongobuji Temple is ¥1000 for junior high school students and above, and ¥300 for elementary school students. You can also purchase a set ticket for all the main areas on the mountain, namely Kongobuji Temple, Kondo Hall, Konpon Daito Pagoda, and the Tokugawa Clan Mausoleum. Access to Koyasan Photo:A cable car at Koyasan, Wakayama Prefecture By train, the most convenient route is to take the Nankai-Koya Line (南海高野線, nankai koya sen) from Namba Station (難波駅, nanba-eki) in Osaka to Gokurakuji Station (極楽寺駅, gokurakuji-eki). From there, take the cable car to Mount Koya. By car, the mountain is accessible via the highway. Parking is available at Koyasan, but due to the high possibility of crowds during holiday seasons, it's generally more convenient to use public transportation. Summary of Kongobuji Temple Photo:Danjo Temple Koyasan in Wakayama Prefecture is not only a World Heritage Site but also a world-famous tourist destination. After watching the video of Koyasan, don't you feel the urge to visit and see the sights in person? By the way, Koyasan is 800m above sea level, leading to cool temperatures in the evening even during summer. Because of this, we recommend wearing warmer clothing when visiting the mountain. 【Official Website】Koyasan Shingon Sect Kongobuji Temple https://www.koyasan.or.jp/en/ 【Tripadvisor】Kongobuji Temple https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1121341-d324935-Reviews-Kongobu_ji_Temple-Koya_cho_Ito_gun_Wakayama_Prefecture_Kinki.html -

In this article, we'll introduce Shimane prefecture’s Matsue Castle alongside with the video. About Matsue Castle Photo:Shimane prefecture・Matsue Castle Matsue Castle, introduced in the video, is a hirayama-style castle built in 1611. Horio Yoshiharu, Kyougoku Tadataka, Matsudaira Naomasa, and Matsudaira Harusato were lords of this castle. The castle has two names, and is often called "Chidori Castle." Famed for the only existing castle tower in the San-in region, Matsue Castle is built on the small Kameda Mountain, overlooking the beautiful Shinji Lake. Besides Matsue Castle, 5 more castles, including Inuyama Castle, Matsumoto Castle, Hikone Castle, and Himeji castle, are all designated as national treasures of Japan. Matsue Castle is designated as a national historical ruin as well as being chosen as one of the top 100 cherry blossom spots in Japan and one of the top 100 beautiful cityscapes. The History of Matsue Castle Photo:Matsue Castle in Spring In the Edo period (1603-1868), Matsue Castle served as the government office of the Matsue clan in the Edo Shogunate. However, because of the ordinance of "One Domain, One Castle," in the Meiji era (1868-1912), most of the castle, besides the wooden castle tower, was dismantled. Later on, the outer citadel tower and stone walls were reconstructed; and in the early years of the Showa era, the castle hillside area was opened to the public as a park. At 0:39 in the video, you can see Matsue Castle at the center of Matsue Shiroyama Park. Attached to the castle tower, there are connecting towers called Tsuke-yagura (lit. attached tower). The brattices, paulownia staircases, and wrapping boards called Tsutsumi-ita that protected the pillars were all distinctive features of the castle. It is said that there were many failed attempts when building the stone walls for the castle tower and there is also an urban legend that tells of men sacrificing themselves and becoming human pillars. Things to Note When Sightseeing at Matsue Castle Photo:Matsue Castle・Moat cruise During the fall season, there is an illumination event at Matsue Castle, and you can see the beautiful autumn colors. On New Year’s, the area is packed with people waiting to see the first sunrise of the year. A Closer Look at Kyoto's Kifune Shrine This video, titled "Kifune Shrine in Early Summer / Kifune Jinja / KyotoiitokoVideo" (初夏の貴船神社 / Kifune Jinja / 京都いいとこ動画) was created by "KyotoiitokoVideo." It's an introductory video featuring Kifune Shrine, located in Kyoto city, Kyoto prefecture (京都府京都市). Many people visit Kifune Shrine in search of luck in marriage and it is also known as a famous power spot. In this article we'll introduce, alongside the video, one of the top sightseeing spots in Kyoto: Kifune Shrine. The History and Origin of Kifune Shrine Photo:The main shrine of Kifune Shrine, Kyoto Kifune shrine in Kyoto, a shrine dedicated to the god Takaokami (高霞神), is the head shrine of all of the Kifune shrines in Japan, of which there are approximately 450 in total. It is listed in the Engi Shiki and is considered one of the top 22 most important Shinto shrines in Japan. Kifune shrine is an ancient shrine featured in the oldest records of Japan, such as the Kojiki (古事記, "Records of Ancient Matters") and the Nihon-shoki (日本書紀, "The Chronicles of Japan"). Things to Do at Kifune Shrine Photo:Water divination at Kifune Shrine Beyond the stone staircase that climbs from Kibune River lies the main building of Kifune shrine as well as other smaller buildings where you can purchase goshuin seal stamps or good luck charms called "o-mamori." Here you can try drawing one of the popular water divination slips known as "mizuuranai-mikuji" (水占みくじ). Two horse statues can be found on the grounds of Kifune shrine and it is thought that this was the birth place of the Ema plaques (絵馬). 700 meters upstream of Omoi River (思ひ川) you'll find the rear shrine, and if you make it here you'll have completed "sanshameguri" (三社巡り), which means that you've visited all three areas of the shrine. It is said that a sacred dragon's cave lies within the rear shrine. You can see the rear shrine from 1:03 in the video. Several events are held at Kifune shrine each year, such as the Kifune festival (貴船まつり), Nagoshi no Oharae (夏越の大祓式), Kifune water festival (貴船の水まつり) and the Tanabata festival "Sasa no Sekku" (笹の節供) which is famous for its beautiful bamboo grass decorations. On top of Kifune Shrine's beautiful summer scenery, you can also enjoy the amazing cherry blossom viewing spots in spring and stunning natural scenery in fall in the surrounding area. The area is often lit up in the evening, attracting lots of visitors! A special prayer is held on the first "day of the ox" of every month. Sightseeing and Restaurants in the Surrounding Area Photo:Kawadoko in Kibune, Kyoto Make sure to stop by a Kawadoko (川床) on your trip to Kibune! Kawadoko means "streambed" in Japanese, but it refers to the raised platforms that are constructed over the streambeds in summer to keep visitors cool. Stopping at Kawadoko for lunch is guaranteed to make for an unforgettable experience! We highly recommend the following restaurants which are located in the surrounding area: Kuramadera (鞍馬寺), Hyoue café(兵衛カフェ), Ryouri Ryokan Kibune's Ugenta (右源太) and Sagenta (左源太), Kifune Kurabu (貴船倶楽部) and Toriyachaya (鳥屋茶屋). Kifune Shrine Introductory Video Summary Photo:Kifune Shrine, Kyoto The Kibune area, which boasts a cooler temperature than Kyoto basin (京都盆地), is the perfect place to beat the summer heat! Let the running water of the Kifune river, the source of both the Yodo River (淀川) and Kamo River (鴨川), reinvigorate your body on a hot summer's day! At Kanazawa castle, you can learn about the history of Ishikawa, Kanazawa, a place known as a prosperous castle town in Kaga Hyakumangoku. Kaga Hyakumangoku refers to the measure of wealth the Kaga region attained during the early rule of the Maeda clan and the artisan culture they promoted over the following three centuries. Photo:Kanazawa Castle Park in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture Kanazawa castle is located in Marunouchi, Kanazawa, in Ishikawa prefecture (Formerly Kaga province, Ishikawa-gun, Kaganokuni). It was built on the Kodatsuno Plateau between the Saigawa River and the Asano River, which flows through the Kanazawa plains. During Edo period (1603-1868), Kanazawa castle prospered as a castle town of Kaga Hyakumangoku and was used as a residence of the Maeda clan, the head of the Kaga domain. Today, the area around the castle, including the ruins of Kanazawa Castle, a national historic site, has been developed into Kanazawa Castle Park, and is one of Kanazawa's most popular tourist attractions. Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park This video, titled "Peace Memorial Park," created by "Hiroshima Regional Sightseeing Information Website Hirotabi: Make a Trip to Hiroshima!," introduces "Peace Memorial Park" (平和記念公園) in Nakajima Town (中島町, Nakajimacho), Naka Ward (中区, Nakaku), Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture (広島県, Hiroshimaken) in the Chugoku Region (中国地方, Chugokuchiho) of Japan. Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima Prefecture was made near the hypocenter of the atomic bomb explosion to console the spirits of those who died in the bombing and to pray for eternal world peace. Many visitors, not just from Japan, but from all over the world, come to visit Peace Memorial Park, whose construction finished in 1955 (Showa 30), 10 years after the atomic bomb was dropped. It has become a place to remind ourselves of the terror of the atomic bomb and the importance of peace. This article will introduce information about recommended spots to visit within Peace Memorial Park, as well as famous sites near Peace Memorial Park, tourist information about those nearby sites, and how to best enjoy your trip. The video shows the entire view of Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome (原爆ドーム, Genbakudomu), and the monument. Seeing people silently praying, is enough to compel you to grieve for those lost in the tragedy and pray for world peace. A Look at Peace Memorial Park Photo:Peace Memorial Park Peace Memorial Park is a city park located on the delta where the two rivers of Hiroshima city diverge. It is 122,100 square meters in size and was completed in August 1955. It has no entrance fee, is open year round, and is truly a park that represents Japan. You can see the entire view of the Peace Memorial Park from 0:06 in the video. The park is home to 35 cenotaphs and memorials, as well as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (広島平和記念資料館, Hiroshimakinenshiryokan), the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims (国立広島原爆死没者追悼平和祈念館, Kokuritsuhiroshimagenbakushibotsushatsuitoheiwakinenkan) and the International Conference Center Hiroshima (広島国際会議場, Hiroshimakokusaikaigijo). You can access the Peace Memorial Park by taking a 20-minute train ride from JR Hiroshima Station (JR広島駅, JR Hiroshimaeki) to Atomic Bomb Dome Station (原爆ドーム前駅,Genbakudomumaeeki) on the Hiroshima Electric Railway (Streetcar). There is no parking lot at the park, so we recommend using public transport such as a train or bus when you visit. The Peace Memorial Photo:Atomic Bomb Dome Peace Memorial Park is one of Japan’s most famous tourist destinations, chosen as one of the "Top 100 City Parks in Japan" and the "Top 100 Historical Parks in Japan." The Atomic Bomb Dome, which conveys the terror of the atomic bomb, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The Atomic Bomb Dome used to be the Hiroshima Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall (広島県物産陳列館, Hiroshimakenbussanchinretukan) built in 1915, but was destroyed by the atomic bomb in World War 2. The blast came from right above the building, and so the walls were left standing, and still remain to this day. The Atomic Bomb Dome that can be viewed from the cenotaph for the atomic bomb victims, is a sight that you won't forget. You can view the Atomic Bomb Dome at 0:15 in the video. The Children’s Peace Monument (原爆の子の像,Genbakunokonozo), a bronze statue of a little girl lifting up an origami crane, consoles the spirits of those who lost their lives in the atomic bomb, and calls for peace. There are origami crane booths around the statue, where strings of a thousand origami cranes from all over Japan are laid. You can observe the Statue of Prayer (祈りの像, Inorinozo), a monument built on the 15th anniversary of the end of the war, and the Phoenix Trees Exposed to the Atomic Bomb (被ばくしたアオギリ,Hibakushitaaogiri), which sprouted the following year despite half of its trunk being burned by the atomic bomb from 0:47 in the video. The sound of the Peace Bell (平和の鐘,Heiwanokane), which is rung as a prayer for peace, has been chosen as one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan." Also, if you can have the tourism volunteer guide show you around the model course inside the park, you can learn in depth about the history and famous areas of the park, making it a popular choice for tourists. You can also take part in the Lantern Float (とうろう流し, Toronagashi) held on the river next to the Atomic Bomb Dome on August 6th. You can feel the emotions of countless people come together as one, as the prayers for peace are reflected on the river. The Lantern Float can be observed from 2:17 in the video. Tourist Spots and Delicious Food Around Peace Memorial Park ©Michio_Matsuoka Modifying A recommended tourist spot near Peace Memorial Park is Itsukushima Shrine (厳島神社, Itsukushimajinja), a World Heritage Site and also one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Hiroshima and Japan. The shinden-zukuri style building (a style of architecture used for nobles’ residences during the Heian period) on the sea is popular as a beautiful, instagrammable tourist attraction. After visiting some tourist attractions, enjoy some local Hiroshima dishes! There are many Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurants near Peace Memorial Park. Summary of Peace Memorial Park, Hiroshima City This video, Peace Memorial Park, gives a view of Peace Memorial Park and people praying for peace and for the souls of those who lost their lives in the bombing. You may have seen Peace Memorial Park on television, but it looks completely different once you’re actually standing there. Visiting Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which was renovated in April 2019, to look at the exhibits of atomic-bomb-related materials and artifacts, and remembering the people who were lost on that day, is a life-changing experience. We hope this article and video inspired you to visit Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima Prefecture. ◆Hiroshima City Peace Memorial Park◆ 【Address】〒730-0811 1-1 Nakajima Town, Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture 【Access】About 20 minutes by bus from JR Hiroshima Station. 【Admission fee】None 【Hours】All day (24 hours) 【Closures】None 【Parking】None 【Telephone No】082-504-2390 【Official Homepage】Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum http://hpmmuseum.jp/?lang=eng 【Tripadvisor】Hiroshima City Peace Memorial Park https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298561-d1165220-Reviews-Hiroshima_Peace_Memorial_Park-Hiroshima_Hiroshima_Prefecture_Chugoku.html -

It introduces the Kadowaki suspension bridge, located in Ito, Shizuoka in the Tokai region of Japan. Popular tourist destinations, such as Atami hot springs and Izu Plateau, can also be found in eastern Shizuoka prefecture. Many tourists visit the Izu area and spend time at one of the many resort hotels to enjoy the various tourist attractions, cafes and hot springs. In this article we'll introduce the Kadowaki suspension bridge, a popular tourist destination in the Izu area. The Kadowaki Suspension Bridge! Photo:Jogasaki Coast・Kadowaki Suspension Bridge As you can see from 6:20 in the video, the Kadowaki suspension bridge hangs from two cliff faces making it a thrilling experience to cross! You can also enjoy a stunning view of Kaiyo Park from the bridge and the surrounding area. The Jogasaki Coast (城ヶ崎海岸, jougasakikaigan) was formed from the lava of an eruption which took place over 4,000 years ago at Mt. Omuro (大室山, oomuroyama), one of the volcanos in the Izu-Tobu volcano range (伊豆東部火山郡, izutoubukazangun). The corrosion caused by the lava created a sea cave known as "Hanshiro otoshi" (半四郎落し). The Kadowaki suspension bridge, which hangs between this sea cave and Kadowaki cape, is 48 meters in length and 23 meters high. The Kadowaki suspension bridge is also referred to as the Jogasaki suspension bridge, as it hangs above the Jogasaki Coast in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park (富士箱根伊豆国立公園, fujihakoneizukokuritsukouen). Other Tourist Spots Around Kadowaki Suspension Bridge Photo:Izu-Jogasaki・Kadowaki Lighthouse You can enjoy a view of Kadowaki lighthouse (門脇灯台, kadowakitoudai), built in 1995, Mt. Amagi (天城連山, amagirenzan), and the islands of the Izu Peninsula (伊豆七島, izushichitou) from the Kadowaki suspension bridge. There is a walking course nearby called "Jogasaki Pikkunikaru Course." It's popular with dog-walkers and hikers. A variety of fish can be caught at the nearby Futo Harbour (富戸漁港, futogyokou) and Uomigoya (魚見小屋, uomigoya). We highly recommend trying some fresh seafood dishes at the nearby restaurant Boranaya (ぼら納屋) as well! There is another bridge with a great view in the Jogasaki Coastal area, called the Hashidate Suspension Bridge (橋立吊橋, hashidatetsuribashi). If you're visiting the area, we recommend crossing both bridges. If you have time to spare, we also highly recommend visiting other popular tourist spots, such as Renchakuji temple (蓮着寺) and Manaita Iwa (俎岩). Summary of the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge Photo:Jogasaki Coast・Kadowaki Suspension Bridge In this video, we introduced the thrilling Kadowaki suspension bridge, hanging between two cliffs! As you can see from 5:23 in the video, the scenery of the flora by the seaside of the Kadowaki suspension bridge area can be enjoyed all year round.
