It's like a winter wonderland! Looks really cold though lol. I'd seen on the news how bad the snow was getting in parts of Akita, especially Yokote but it looks like it's just cold everywhere this year. The plus side is Japan has a lot of beautiful scenery so when the snow starts to pile up like this it makes for some beautiful photography (like we're seeing here). I really like this photo though, you can practically hear how quiet and cold it is. It almost makes me want to get outside and go camping with a big ol' campfire and a heavy duty tent. I know my girlfriend would never agree to go though to a place with this much snow though ?Hope everyone is staying safe from the cold! Be sure to take some photos of the beautiful scenery while you can though. No snow here in Tokyo though (unfortunately??).

Fine snow began to fall. When the wind stops, snow accumulates on the flatlands of Niigata.

Man this is so cool! Leave it to Kyoto to have not only tons of amazing temples and shrines, but also some historic boat houses! Looking at this just gets me raring to go fishing lol. It's been so long since I've been. It'd probably be a good idea to get my own tackle and go for a fishing trip. I could even try making my own sushi although idk how great it would taste ?The second picture in the article makes it look like paradise too. I'd love to visit the hot spring as well. I have a public bath near my place but I haven't been able to get out to an actual hot spring lately. Ine looks like a great place though, really rustic and detached from the every day hustle and bustle of the city. Just one more thing to add to my bucket list when I visit Kyoto again!

Man that's a lot of meat! I love yakiniku though so I wouldn't be surprised if I could eat all of it ? I haven't went to a yakiniku restaurant in a while since we just cook it at home in our nabe, but I'd love to go to a yakiniku restaurant again soon. The atmosphere is always really nice and it's nice to get out and have a beer with some friends over some delicious meat. I used to always go to this all-you-can-eat style yakiniku restaurant with friends some years back but with everyone living in different places I haven't been able to do so in a while. I'm pretty sure I've never went to Ushimatsu, but dang does it look good. I'm a huge fan of the toasted bread and meat too, looks tasty! If I'm ever in Minato and looking to splurge I'll have to give this place a visit!

HA! Soba eaten with just an entire leek for a spoon. I'd love to try this. My girlfriend loves green onions so I'm sure she'd love this too ? I think one of the great things about Japan is that not only is the food really delicious, but it's also (generally) really healthy too. I'd certainly agree that this is innovative! As I've been informed there's also laver (not wakame) as well as nameko mushrooms in the soup! Sounds delicious to me! I had some really good soba over New Years as well but I never thought to use a leek for a spoon! I'll have to try it out next time I eat it at home! Ouchi-Juku looks like a really cool place in Fukushima as well. It reminds me of Shirakawa-go with the thatched rooves.

"Negi soba", a specialty of Ouchi-juku in Fukushima! I had seen and heard that eating soba with one leek, but it is still novel! Lol
However, if you soe the buckwheat noodles, ding the leeks, and repeating, you will be unexpectedly addicted!

Looking at this picture I realized I've never actually seen fireworks in the snow. I've done them for New Years of course, but living in Tokyo it doesn't snow much. Also where I was from the in the US we didn't get a lot of snow either. This looks like a lot of fun though. I didn't get to do fireworks this New Years but I was able to have a lot of fun still. Ate some great food with some great people and had fun playing games together. I've visited Aomori a few times in the past though and it was a lot of fun so maybe next year I'll head out there and enjoy these fireworks for New Years! Either way, this Kabushima Shrine looks really beautiful on top of the hill. The path leading up to the shrine and the torii gates are really neat. I looked it up a little more and it looks like a lot of seagulls gather at the shrine as well. Makes sense since it's right next to the beach. Really awesome!
